Community Update – Hampstead Heath Wildlife Pond |
||
|
Dear Highgate and Hampstead Residents,
We are aware of recent incidents at the wildlife pond on Hampstead Heath during the recent hot weather, where a number of people have entered a designated no-swimming conservation area.
We understand the concern this has caused locally, particularly in relation to the disturbance of wildlife and the impact on this protected habitat.
We want to reassure residents that this matter is being taken seriously. Officers from Hampstead Town Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) and Highgate Safer Neighbourhood Team will be working alongside Hampstead Heath Constabulary (City of London Police) colleagues to:
We will also be raising awareness within the community about the sensitivity of the wildlife pond, particularly during the nesting season, and why it is vital these areas are respected.
In addition, we are looking to hold community engagement events on the Heath in the coming weeks. These will provide an opportunity for residents to speak directly with local officers, raise concerns, and learn more about how we can work together to protect this environment.
We encourage anyone who witnesses ongoing issues or antisocial behaviour to report it to police via 101, or 999 in an emergency.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us protect Hampstead Heath.
